Managing Your Career
Employee Engagement is becoming a key challenge for organisations during this recession. Gallup researchers studied employee responses to show 29% of respondents were actively engaged at work, 56% not engaged 56% and 15% actively disengaged. People may be staying longer with their employer but if 71% are not engaged, they are not productive. Up is traditionally seen as the only way to grow your career. Promotions, salary increases and bonuses are not as readily available as before and leaving is not ideal as in an insecure jobs market there is no prospect of longer term job security.
We have worked closely with some leading organisations to design a solution to increase staff engagement. Our Career Management programme offers staff new tools to grow their careers at a time when they may feel that there are little or on career development paths. This programme has been run with graduates, employees and managers. Each population has different challenges and we have introduced participants to the “6 ways to manage your career” as a popular element to these programmes. The end result is increased engagement, self-motivation and a clearer knowledge on how to grow your career at a time when the obvious promotion opportunities are not available.
