Our client has an exciting long-term temporary role. This is a full time remote role , once training is completed . This position is responsible for assuring timely and accurate creation of art files for production, performing continual analysis, providing technical input to the printability of packaging components and packaging component suppliers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Illustrates basic ability to take ideas and instructions from a variety of sources and, with supervision, interpret, organize, and present them in a graphic format from concept through completion (print and/or electronic). Demonstrates a strong familiarity with design basics/theory (proportion and balance, typography, color theory) as well as basic production essentials to structure layouts/files logically and efficiently. Shows proficiency in programs including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, and MS Word.
- Demonstrates ability to create new designs as well as leverage graphic knowledge and expertise to revise and maintain existing designs.
- Demonstrates ability to collect fonts, support graphics, codes, and dielines to send to printing suppliers. Demonstrates knowledge of various types of printing processes, materials, and types of final file delivery to support suppliers’ needs. Retrieves electronic printer proofs and returns to suppliers.
- Reviews and prioritizes production work and other tasks working closely with Labeling/Graphics Manager, Labeling Specialists, Graphic Artists and Proofreaders. Adjusts priorities according to due dates and interpretation of time necessary for production. Plays a supportive role in planning and preparing designs for new products and projects.
- Communicates effectively with other graphic artists and members of their team. Clearly identifies problems and solutions that arise with projects and discusses accordingly. Provides training to new personnel and communicates with outside vendors, printing suppliers, Package Engineers, Projects Administrators, and Marketing Group.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of laser printers and plotter, sending and receiving files via Secure Connect, FTP & Sendfile. Retrieves files from archives. Uses Scanner proficiently. Uses Language Software to convert RTF (Rich Text Format) files from foreign markets. Occasionally attends printing and equipment seminars, transferring knowledge back to group.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- BA/BFA in Graphic Design related field or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with various Adobe applications.
- A minimum of 5+ years industry experience. Working knowledge of printing processes / prepress file preparation. Prior experience in pharmaceutical labeling a plus, however not necessary.
- A minimum of 5+ years of Macintosh experience. Working knowledge of printing process. Prior experience in pharmaceutical labeling a plus, however not necessary. Proficiency in Macintosh programs including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, QuarkXpress and MS Word.
