Our client is seeking an experienced HGV Driver to join their team. This role is integral to ensuring the safe and efficient transport of chemical products to customers nationwide. The successful candidate will operate within a professional, safety-first environment, supporting customers by delivering essential products on time and in compliance with industry regulations. Job Purpose
The HGV Driver is part of our clients pool of Artic & Rigid drivers who are responsible for providing all customers with a safe and professional service in accordance with company delivery procedures. The role is based out of Clare but will travel nationwide.
Principal Responsibilities
- Drive your vehicle in a courteous and safe manner with regards to other road users and in accordance with road legislation and company policies and procedures.
- Report vehicle defects to the Customer Services Manager immediately.
- Load/unload your vehicle safely in accordance with Company procedures and legal standards and verify against delivery docket.
- Deliver / pump-over products to customers in a safe efficient manner in accordance with Company procedures.
- Report any spillage immediately per the company processes, attempt to contain the spillage in accordance with Company standards
- Confirm that your load matches the docket for each loading to your truck.
- Ensure all delivery dockets are fully filled in, signed, kept in an orderly fashion and handed into the Gate hut / office at the end of each day.
- Complete daily vehicle checklists as required and keep book in truck.
- Read the Company Drivers Manual carefully and follow the guidelines as required.
- Complete detailed written incident reports on day of occurrence.
- Any other duties that have been identified for the role
Person Specification
Skills & Experience
- Experience of transporting ADR classified loads, particularly Class 8 Chemicals.
- Experience of multi-drop deliveries nationwide.
- Experience of operating a forklift is desirable
- National route planning experience is desirable
- Past experience of using pumps, valves, compressors and batch controllers for liquid transfer to tanker
- Practical experience of working in an environment where manual operations were extensively used.
- Experience of using personal protective equipment
- Candidates must already possess the right to work in the EU
Training & Certifications
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification is desirable
- Must hold a clean current applicable HGV licence, ADR certificate and relevant CPC Certificates.
- Experience in the Chemical industry is desirable
