Overview:
Our client, a global leader in specialty materials manufacturing based in Shannon Co. Clare are currently seeking a Process Technician to join their dynamic team on a 6-month contract with a strong view to permanency — an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in a safety-focused, innovation-driven environment.
The Role
The Process Technician will be deployed to production and other site activities as and when required. Manufactures product in a safe, compliant and efficient manner, whilst ensuring manual and electronic records and documentation is completed accurately and contemporaneously. All activities must comply with EHS and quality regulations and adhere to all site and operations procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Is flexible and works independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision, to complete job related tasks and projects in a safe, compliant and efficient manner.
- Uses manual and automated control systems to manufacture products in compliance with batch manufacturing instructions (BMI’s), production and equipment procedures.
- Handles raw materials, product and waste materials in and out of production and stores areas.
- Dispenses materials for batches or quality and technical services as needed.
- Samples raw materials, finished and semi-finished products as needed for operations and quality and technical services.
- Drives fork trucks and uses other material and waste handling equipment.
- Completes site log books, documentation and electronic records as required, accurately, legibly and contemporaneously. Ensures all materials used for a batch are recorded in accordance with procedures and good document practices.
- Follows documented work instructions to ensure quality product is made and properly packaged for shipment to the customer.
- Completes in-process quality testing as defined in work instructions.
- Organises, cleans and maintains work areas and ancillary areas, plant and equipment to the highest standards at all times. Reports any issues without delay.
- Promptly escalates any issues to their Supervisor and assists with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Participates in process and safety deviation investigations and change management process.
- Participates in site safety preparedness activities, initiatives and site emergency response team, on request.
- Fully engages in programmes such as Continuous Improvement, Total Productive and Maintenance (TPM), 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality, Self-directed Teams etc.
- Attend and complete all training and development as requested and ensure training compliance at all times.
- Attends all relevant meetings and team meetings, ensures comprehensive hand-over to incoming shifts and briefings on shift performance, EHS, quality issues and action points.
- Any other duties or responsibilities relevant to the role of Process Technician.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum leaving certificate.
- Post leaving qualification e.g. certificate or diploma in manufacturing, engineering or related discipline would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge and understanding of environmental, health and safety and quality compliance is essential.
- Chemical or pharmaceutical experience and working with reactors, centrifuges, dryers, powder transfer systems, filters, pumps also an advantage.
- Good level computer proficient for example, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP etc.
- Experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, Lean, Six-sigma certified, would be an advantage.
- Must hold a full driving licence.
